Myocarditis Following Immunization With mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines

This case series was carried out on members of the United States Armed Forces.

Myocarditis was diagnosed within four days of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine in this case series of 23 male patients, which included 22 previously healthy members of the armed forces. The diagnosis was made for the majority of patients (n = 20) after they had received their second dose of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. These incidents took place against the backdrop of 2.8 million doses of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine that were given out.

The conclusion is that vigilance for uncommon adverse effects following immunization with COVID-19 is necessary; however, this should not impair general trust in vaccination during the present pandemic. One of these rare adverse events is myocarditis.
